Kirklees College students snap up Jessops and Canon Challenge

A team of Peter Jones Enterprise Academy students from Kirklees College in West Yorkshire have won the inaugural Jessops & Canon Challenge.

The Level 3 entrepreneurs fought off stiff competition from Peterborough Regional College at the final last week, which was held at Canon’s European headquarters in Reigate.

Tasked with researching the current photography market and proposing new business ideas, students from all over the UK had been battling it out for a place in the last round.

Kirklees student Shahira Allen said: “I can’t believe how much we have achieved as a group in such a short space of time. We have grown as people and grown in confidence beyond measure.

“This Jessops & Canon challenge has pushed us to new levels as a group, academy and college. This is a huge thing for us. We have so many people to thank, especially our amazing tutors Lydia Butterworth and Amir Hafidh.”
